As you can view from this trailer and as we already knew before 'Oliver', is a neglected child who is treated badly and with no respect, this is clearly shown through out the trailer. This can be viewed through the emotions portrayed in his facial expressions when he was treated bad and after he had found some happiness in 'Faigen'.
This child is the main character of this story and the main plot revolves around him, this is similar to our story line as the main character in our story 'Gabriella' is a neglected child and experience forms of violence that no child should ever have to go through.
During this trailer, we can see that 'Oliver' experiences forms of violence or is shown things that he should not, for example, guns, due to his life we can view that he has been made to grow up a lot quicker than he should have.
Oliver Twist was set during the 1830's, this is around the time period that we are basing our film upon, despite his trailer not being in black and white (as there are not trailers from the original black and white Oliver Twist), we can still view the time when set through the use of props, this is what we have taken into consideration, especially with clothing as this really does set the scene for an old film.
Despite this film being in colour, the area around looks dull and polluted, as did the Tilly Trotter poster that I analysed, we do not have the ability to portray this in the way that professionally made films have done, however, through the use of changing our original filming to black and white, this does portray an image that is a lot duller than colour.
Through watching this trailer and being aware as to what the film is actually about, I can view that shots have been put in from the trailer that are in different orders to what they are actually shown. Our short film practice task shows the film as it would be, obviously a lot shorter, however, as we are only producing a teaser trailer, this will only last for 30 secs to one min. We are going to use some of the original filming from our practice task, but as trailers are in a mixed order to what they are shown, we have decided to follow this pattern and change things around. This will be in order to leave the audience hanging and want to come and see our film to find out exactly what it will be about.
As you can also view from this trailer, there are flashing black screens with words, giving a bit more impact and telling the audience more about this film. We will take this into consideration and use this, obviously as Oliver Twist is a well known film and was before this recent version of the film was made, it had won awards and was first written by the famous Charles Dickinson, which is why this is said during these moments.
As you can see from this trailer each shot is shown with different speed, at first slowed down, longer scenes and then towards the end fast flashing scene almost as though they are photographs. We will additionally consider this, and look at speeding up and slowing down certain shots, as you can view from our short film practice task we did also try to do this here, it immediately gave the film more impact.
Music is playing the whole way through this trailer, to give emotion and feel to the characters. At the start it is loud sad music that builds up to create tension, indicating that this is the scenes where something bad may happen. The music stops playing when characters speak, we hear Oliver speak in his innocent voice and we are shown the main symbolic words that Oliver speaks which questions his so called 'carers' whose intelligence is being questioned by a young boy, they find it highly offensive when Oliver asks: 'Please Sir, I Want Some More'. As this is a remake of the original film, the audience are aware that this is the main and famous line that everyone is aware of. The music changes towards the end when clips of scenes are shown when Oliver is happier in the story, it is faster and much more jollier like a fast piano, giving the impression that a lot has changed since the start and events have occurred.
