Our Initial Ideas

Steph and I have chosen to complete the teaser trailer as our product along with the poster and the front cover of a magazine promoting our film. Due to completing our practice product before the summer holidays, which was a short film, we have decide to base our trailer along this story line. 

The main plot of the film, is that it is a black and white, silent movie, featuring three main characters, the father, the daughter and a maid. The story line flows back to when the Father's wife, gave birth to the daughter, the mother, unfortunately died shortly after giving birth. The Father from this day onwards, has resented his daughter and blamed her for his wife's death. The family are wealthy and have a full time maid, who takes a lot more care of his daughter than he ever has done. The story line is emotionaland heartbreaking to think that this wuld happen to a young child but this does happen to highlight things that occur on a daily basis in some families. At the end of our short film the maid ends up running away with the daughter to give her a better life. 

Obviously, there are a difference of ideological views amongst this plot line, one being the amount of power the father has over his vulnerable daughter and the other being the different beliefs between the Father and Elsie (the maid) on how his daughter should be brought up and treated.
